October 2009

World Robotics 2009 is now available

For the first time, the IFR Statistical Department has published two separate studies for the two main robot categories:

World Robotics 2009 Industrial Robots provides detailed statistical data for some 40 countries, broken down by application areas, industrial branches, types of robots and by other technical and economic variables. Data on production, exports and imports are presented for a selection of countries. Trends in robot densities, i.e. number of robots per 10,000 persons employed in relevant sectors, are also featured for almost all countries in the world. The chapter on forecasting provides information on robotic trends as well as customer trends. Seven case studies analyse the profitability of industrial robots. Two special features on the future of robotics are also added.

World Robotics 2009 Service Robots presents comprehensive global statistics on service robots, market analysis, case studies (start-ups of service robot suppliers), international research strategies of service robots and the IERA 2009 Award. The market analysis is authored by Martin Hägele, Chairman of the IFR Service Robot Group Head of Department "Robot Systems" Fraunhofer IPA, Stuttgart, Germany.

Both studies include new chapters on future trends, research projects and more detailed analysis of the statistics as well as improved forecasting. With a more elaborate and refined content, World Robotics is truly becoming the international benchmark for global robotics statistics. It is an absolute must have for anyone involved in a leading role in robotics.
