| CARE was a project funded by the European Commission (Directorate Information Society and Media) under the 6th Framework Programme (FP6-IST-045058, 01.11.2006 - 31.10.2009) | |
The objective of CARE was to produce a Strategic Research Agenda for robotics in Europe and to coordinate the actions and initiatives in the field of robotics in Europe for the first three years of the Framework Programme 7 (FP7).
This objective was accomplished last year and the Strategic Research Agenda for robotics in Europe was published in July 2009.
The 15 CARE partners took the role of actively driving forward the development of the SRA based on the information collected from the community, organised within EUROP (European Robotics Technology Platform). During the 3 years duration, over 140 organisations from all over Europe - large, medium and small companies as well as research centres - were brought together through CARE. They all had the common objective of promoting the strength and development of robotics activities in Europe.
The foundation of CARE was based on EUROP (the European Robotic Platform), a European Technology Platform (ETP) gathering more than 120 members, endorsing the platform objectives and attracting a fast growing interest.
CARE directly supported the objectives of EUROP and its ambitious mission to see Europe maintain its leading position in robotics and develop new companies. It also provided networks to meet the new technology needs while supporting the Lisbon objectives.
CARE also had a close relationship to the academic network of EURON (EUropean RObotics Network) and cooperated with other European and national initiatives in the robotics field to further enhance its goals.
